TMJ Therapy in Monument, Colorado
Relief From Someone Who Truly Understands
If you've been living with jaw pain, clicking, chronic headaches, or facial tension — and you've been told to just wear a night guard and hope for the best — I want you to know there's more that can be done.
As a licensed acupuncturist AND a Registered Dental Hygienist with over 20 years of hands-on experience in intraoral anatomy. My TMJ therapy is unlike anything else available in the Monument and Colorado Springs area — because I understand this joint from the inside out, in a way that most practitioners simply cannot.
This is where my two careers come together in the most powerful way.
What Is TMJ Disorder?
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jaw to your skull. When this joint becomes inflamed, misaligned, or overworked — from grinding, clenching, stress, injury, or dental work — it creates a cascade of painful symptoms that can radiate throughout your head, neck, and shoulders.
Common symptoms I treat include:
Jaw pain, clicking, or popping
Chronic headaches and migraines
Ear pain or fullness
Facial muscle tension
Neck and shoulder tightness
Difficulty opening or closing the mouth fully
Bruxism (teeth grinding at night)
How My TMJ Therapy Works
My TMJ protocol combines two powerful modalities in a single treatment:
Acupuncture: Targeted needling of jaw, facial, head, and neck points to reduce inflammation, release muscle tension, and calm the nervous system driving the dysfunction.
Intraoral Massage: Using TMJ Massage Therapies® certified techniques, I work both inside and outside the mouth to directly release the muscles responsible for your pain. Very few practitioners in Colorado offer this level of specialized, hands-on care.
Together, these approaches address the root cause — not just the symptoms — for lasting, meaningful relief.

FAQs
-
Dentists address TMJ structurally — with night guards, splints, or bite adjustments. My approach addresses the muscular and neurological components driving the pain. These are powerful complements, not competitors.
-
Most patients notice meaningful improvement within 4–6 sessions. Long-standing or severe cases may need 8–12 sessions. I'll give you an honest assessment at your first visit.
-
It can feel intense in areas of significant tension, but patients typically feel immediate relief as those muscles release. I always work within your comfort level and check in throughout.
-
Absolutely. I love working with dental providers as a co-management partner. Contact me at (719) 213-0999 or visit the Provider Referral page.
